Thrifty Table Settings
June 29, 2009
If you love the idea of mismatched plates, it can add charm to your whole table setting. They’re also a great conversation starter. You can use mismatched plates with fun, colorful and flowery designs.
Here’s how:
Visit your local Salvation Army thrift store or consignment shop and rummage through old dishes! The average plates can range in price between 50 cents and $2. Excellent for a wedding reception, tea party, bridal shower, or if you’re hosting a small, intimate reception and looking to be creative within a budget!
Once you’re done – why not give the china as a keepsake?
Here’s an idea: At the end of a buffet table stack your mismatched china, with a sign that reads:
“In honor of this delightful occasion and its grand atmosphere, please devour your food on some eclectic and fine china. If you find you have enjoyed the experience, or simply love the plate, feel free to take it home with you.”
